The Future of Batteries
For this inaugural Energy Ecosystem panel, Professor Bryan McCloskey will lead a discussion on the future of batteries and renewable energy. Don't miss these innovators in energy discuss the latest trends in the field as well as the ways in which DEI, Covid-19, and the ethics of sourcing renewable energy materials have impacted this sector.

Meet our Panelists:

Amy Prieto
Professor, CSU and Founder and CTO, Prieto Battery, Inc.
Prof. Prieto founded Prieto Battery, Inc. in 2009 with the goal of commercializing a novel three dimensional high power density, safe lithium-ion battery made from aqueous based electroplating baths.

Anouck Champsaur
Co-founder and former CTO, XL Batteries
Dr. Champsaur is a co-founder and former CTO of XL Batteries, a startup from Columbia University developing redox flow batteries for grid scale energy storage.

Bryan McCloskey
Associate Professor, College of Chemistry at UC Berkeley
Dr. McCloskey is an Associate Professor and the Vice Chair of Graduate Education in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at UC Berkeley. His laboratory currently focuses on metal-air batteries, photoelectrochemical CO 2 reduction, and a variety of challenges facing Li-ion batteries.

Steve Harris
Project Scientist, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and President, Lithium Battery Research
Dr. Harris’s work has ranged widely, and it includes studies of combustion chemistry, the kinetics and thermodynamics for growth of CVD films, aerosol dynamics modeling, fatigue failure in gears, and fracture mechanics in cast aluminum.
